The Fawvor Family

Memories and Adventures from Alaska

Marty (Madalyn) and Melman (Little Brandon) our friends from the movie Madagascar sent us some pics yesterday that I just could not resist posting. The pictures were espicially exciting since I did not take a single picture this weekend of my extremely grouchy two year old. so thanks to my sister-in-law Jennifer for the adorable Halloween pics!

Marty is Madalyn's favorite cartoon character of all time! I wonder how many times Jennifer and Big Brandon have seen Madagascar. Probably as many times as we have seen Cars!

This costume is a relic in the Lawerence/Fawvor families. Madalyn, Bubbies, and now Little Brandon have all worn this costume for their first Halloween! And look! He is crawling!

Wendy and Adam's Little Monkey. Is she not the cutest little thing. I am so glad that her and Bubbies are going to get married one day. They will have the cutest kids! Just kidding (kind of).

Fun pics of Bubbies being silly!

And...the cat in the tub!

This weekend while the guys were over and we were all playing Trivial Pursuit, we decided to shake things up a little for Bubbies. As we got closer to bedtime, instead of stopping the game to give Bubs a bath, we decided to give him a bath in the kitchen sink. HE LOVED IT! Here is a cute pic of his fun bath!

On Saturday Bubbies was in a royal mood because he decided that he didn't need a nap. Well, bedtime is normally at 8:00 but by 7:05 he had conked out in his daddy's lap which is very unusual.

Bubbies also gave his mommy some extra special loving! He is so cute!

We had a lot of fun this weekend especially since we had Friday off for Alaska Day! Woohoo for made up holidays!
I am going to start with our Sunday adventures and update you on the rest tomorrow.
Jason decided that he was going to treat us to dinner on Sunday night and showed up with about 7 lbs of crab legs! He reminded us several times just how much those crab legs cost, so that we would appreciate his contribution. It actually became a huge joke for the night!

I made some homemade cookies (that I never ended up baking), but Bubbies did get to lick the beaters after his nap which made him very happy.

Then we all sat down for a feast! I made pasta salad, cheesy mashed potatoes, and asparagus. I couldn't crank the crab legs out fast enough for these guys.

Bubbies wasn't really into the crab legs, but he did enjoy the company.

Then we played our second round of Trivial Pursuit for the weekend. After much heated competition and a little left over aggresion from our game on Friday night, Jason pulled out the win with Curt Cobain (the 90's edition version of a pie).

He was sure to rub it in and yelled so loud he woke Bubbies up. Then he rubbed it in our face that he spent $70 on dinner and that apparently we are forever in debt.

Our fabulous daycare providor sent me some pics today of what the kids have been up to lately. The first set of pics are from a little play group that they attend called "Romp and Stomp". Bubbies just loves it there and he is able to have some male bonding with the other boys there since he spends his entire day with a bunch of girls who have cooties!
I do find it hilarious that he is playing with a very pink stroller.

I am not sure when these outside pics were taken, but it was probably at least a month ago becasue we do have some snow on the ground now.

Gathering leaves for their afternoon project!

It took me a while to figure out what this was, but I think that it is a painting involving some leaves and some paint!

This weekend we decorated our Halloween pumpkin. Bubbies was excited about our pumpkin at first, but as soon as the top came off and he saw what was inside he said "Yucky" and that was the end of his participation. He did however manage to dump over his big boy cup of milk during the pumpkin carving.

He was extremely interested in the end result of our hard work. He spent about 10 minutes standing on the porch inspecting the pumpkin with it's candle. We finally had to bring him inside because it was getting rather chilly.

On Sunday night Jason came over to dinner and provided some serious entertainment for us. He taught Bubbies how to play football and with the help of Daddy they managed to poop Bubbies out so much that he did not sneak out of bed and he slept until 7:45 when I had to wake him up for school.

Then Bubbies and Jason sat around and reminisced about the good ole' days. "Just a couple of Joe's" as Jason would say.

We had a HUGE event this weekend that needs some celebration! Bubbies went poo-poo on the potty! I debated for several minutes about whether or not I was going to document this momumental moment with a picture and decided against it to spare my son some dignity. I was very exciting for us and Bubbies seemed to be quite proud of himself as well.

In the midst of all of the potty excitement, Bubbies found time to completely destroy his room during "naptime".

This is not unusual that he destroys his room during nap, but this is the first time that he has used the diapers as his tool of destruction!

Daddy and Bubbies cleaning up.

We even found some time to play a little dress-up with our conductor hat from Papa Butch and Nani Darla.

Meow-Meow even got in on the action!

Finally I thought it would be fun for everyone to see Bubbies' daycare buddies. Notice that he is the only boy and apparently it is too hard from him to learn everyone's name so he simply calls them all "Mimi". I am not sure why he calls them all Mimi, but hey it works!

I finally have some time today to post some fun pics that I have been storing up for the last week which will explain the utter randomness of my post.

So this weekend while shopping at our local Fred Meyers (which is similar to a Super Target) I noticed that toward the back of the parking lot a cluster of dogs had gathered around a truck. My first thought was that there must be some kind of food or garbage spill in that area and the local strays were having a feast. Then I looked a little closer and realized that oh no it is not a bunch of strays, but a dog mushing team taking a break from the kennels. Only in Alaska will you see a group of mushing dogs taking their lunch hour in a grocery store parking lot and this is normal.
I had to take a picture!

After much anticipation the first snow arrived this weekend. Bubbies was absolutely thrilled which is an extreme improvement to his reaction last year including a vehement refusal to wearing snow gear and not wanting to touch the snow with his hands or his snow boot clad feet.
However, on Saturday he thoroughly enjoyed running around in the snow and sliding around! He even went to far as to touch it with his bare hand!

Now, Big James was not so thrilled about the fresh snow. While Bubbies and I spend about 95% of our day tucked comfortably inside our home, daycare, or an office only leaving the warmth of the indoors to race to and from the car, Big James spends a little more time outdoors.
In fact, Big James has to do PT outside until -30 for an hour and a half four days and week and usually spends a least a couple of hours outside everyday at work maintaining his equipment. So needless to say, he was not happy to see the snow or scrap it off the car so we could go to the grocery store.

Finally, I have discovered that my son has unique flare for fashion. Almost every morning at some point he decides that he wants to take off his PJ's. Sometimes he loudly lets me know that he wants to "tako off" which is how he says it but sometimes if I am standing in the kitchen he tries to take his shirt off himself. This always results in a very fashion forward asymmetrical version of sleeping attire. The first time I saw this, I could not stop laughing and now that it happens on a nearly daily basis, I am beginning to wonder if he is making his first fashion statement.

Just kicking back feeling the elbow and watching some toons.
